Tour Details

If an adventure sport excites you then our Sacred Valley ATV Tour to Maras Moray is an ideal one. It is quite a unique activity. You will be visiting the two prime tourist destinations in Sacred Valley of Incas, Maras and Moray on a Quad bike ATV with a local tour guide.

Both Moray and Maras has been prominent sites since Inca civilization. Infact, these high altitude sites have contributed vastly to te economic growth of the community and the the region in general.

Maras

Maras is home to the salt flats. These salt pans are nestled on a side of a hill. Locals here continue to practise the traditional farming method introduced in the region by Incas, Solar Evaporation Method.

The salt farmers let in natural spring water into the geometric shaped puddles from the nearby hot spring. They let the water evaporate naturally. This leaves behind the crystals of salts which they manually scrape out.

Maras Salt are pinkish in colour and have a good nutritional value. It tastes a little different. Infact, they say if you have tasted Maras Salt, you won’t be fond of the regular salt.

Moray

Moray has been an important part of Incan civilization. It is because of this place, Peru is now produces over 800 varieties of potatoes and different types of corns.

This was more like an agricultural laboratory to Incas. The farming terrace is quite distinct here. It is a massive hole on the ground. The terrace is more like steps to walk down.

Each level has a different temperature. There is a difference of 15 degrees from te top to the bottom of the terrace. The Incas tested the growth conditions of different crops here.

It is highly recommended to do the ATV Maras Moray Quad Bike tour while you are acclimatising in Cusco. The farming terraces of Moray and Salt Pans of Maras offers a great experience to travellers. At Treks in Cusco, we have a young fleet of Quads.

They are well maintained and frequently serviced. Our tour guides are from the region with an extensive knowledge on history and culture. Before starting the tour, we will give you a brief training on managing the Quads at our starting point in Cruz Pata.

I wasn`t quite sure of doing this trip. However after reading all blogs and reviews i decided to do it. It was a spectacular experience and the guide was very interesting with a good knowledge and excellent communication skills. It was my first time on a quad bike and it was a very positive experience.
