Inca Jungle Trek 3 Days 2 Nights

Inca Jungle Trek 3 Days 2 Nights is one of our signature treks to Machu Picchu. It is the shorter version of the classic four day trek

The “trek” is full of adrenaline activities from start to end. It combines hiking, zip lining, mountain biking and rafting with a hike through a part of the Inca Trail along the tropical forest before reaching Aguas Calientes town.

On this Inca Jungle Trek 3 Days 2 Nights to Machu Picchu, you will also be visiting some lesser known archeological sites along the way. Our guides have an extensive knowledge about these sites and will share some astonishing facts.

Itinerary

Day 1Cusco - Santa Maria - Santa Teresa

You will be picked up from your hotel in Cusco at around 0650 in the morning. We will then be driving through the Sacred Valley of Incas to San Luis. It is a small town at 3200 metres.

From here we will start the downhill mountain biking experience. Here you will change into the biking kit provided (gloves and helmet).

Our guide will give you a detailed briefing and instructions for twenty minutes. Then the fun part – freewheeling down quiet but challenging roads, past changing landscapes, you will not want to catch your breath until the first picnic stop in Alfamayo.

It is about three hours from the starting point (Abra Malaga pass). Here you will be having lunch looking at the panoramic views. After a quick change and a dab of insect repellant; it is onwards and downwards towards Huamanmarca.

Huamanmarca is a site recently discovered archaeological complex. Your tour guide will give you a detailed tour of the site. We will then embark in our private transport to Santa Maria. Here we will stop for lunch.

After lunch, we will be driving you to Santa Teresa. Here we will be accommodating you in an ensuite room.

Day 2Santa Teresa - Aguas Calientes

You will wake up and have breakfast at around 7am. After breakfast we will walk to Colpani taking in the views until we reach the restaurant where you will have lunch at the Hidroelectrica.

From here it is only about a two and a half hour flat walk to Aguas Calientes, the base town for Machu Picchu.

Included is dinner at a local restaurant before retiring to your hostel with hot water and private bathrooms.

Day 3Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco

At around four in the morning, we will get ready to hike up to Machu Picchu citadel. The route is through the jungle. We will try to be among the first group to enter to witness the sunrise. You will then have a complete guided tour for two hours.

After the tour, you will have some free time to explore the citadel on your own. If you have booked to climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu mountain, our guide will be directing you to the respective entrance.

Please note, you need to book your entrance to both Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu mountain in advance, preferably at the time of booking your trek.

Once you have had your fill of the Inca citadel, we will be taking the bus back to Aguas Calientes. Here you will be boarding the train back to Ollantaytambo where our representative will meet you and transfer you to Cusco.
