Itinerary

Cusco - Machu Picchu - Cusco

At 0400 AM, we will be picking you up from your hotel in Cusco. Then, in our private transport we will drive you to Ollantaytambo train station. Here you will be boarding the train to Aguas Calientes.

There are two train operators, Peru Rail and Inca Rail on this route. We normally book an expedition class service with Peru Rail. However, this is subject to availability.

It will be a three hours train ride. The journey offers enchanting views of the tropical jungle, Andean farms and snow capped peaks.

As you will arrive in Aguas Calientes train station, our guide will pick you up and will transfer you to the bus terminal. Here, you will be boarding the bus and will be visiting Machu Picchu citadel.

Tour of Machu Picchu:

After clearing the control point, where the officials will verify your ticket with your passport, we will enter Machu Picchu.

As the blanket of clouds would clear you will be rewarded with a sight of the golden rays of sun shimmering on the mortar Andean walls.

We will start the two hours detailed tour of the citadel. On this tour, you will be visiting the ceremonial place, the main plaza, Incan temples, farming terraces among others. After this tour, you will have some free time to explore the citadel.

If you have booked your hike to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu mountain, our guide will direct you to the entrance.

Alternatively, you can walk to the Sun Gate. It offers a spectacular view of the citadel. This is where the trekkers on Inca Trail enter from.

After the tour, you will be taking a bus back to Aguas Calientes. From here you will be taking a train back to Ollantaytambo. Our representative will meet you at the train station and will transfer you back to city of Cusco.

We will arrive in Cusco at around 10:00 PM.

Carlos and his team were very quick and efficient on this trip. I did this tour to machu Picchu in a day from Cusco which was sufficient to see the site. The guide explained every bit in detail. The transport was ontime and was comfortable and the train ride specially was fantastic.

Certainly it was trip of a lifetime. Machu Picchu is an amazing place and the culture is well preserved. It has a different vibe altogether. My guide, Carlos was very nice and explained many things about the place, people and culture. I am very thankful to him and Treks in Cusco company for such an unforgettable trip.

Excellent day trip option from Cusco. It was time saving and provided a good value for money. Carlos is a very good guide and knows a lot about the place and history. Although we did this in a day, we never felt rushed or tiring. Certainly a good option.
