Ausangate and Rainbow Mountain Trek of two days is an ideal trek to include in your adventure travel. This high altitude trek, offers an enchanting experience in the Andes. This is one of the best treks in Peru.

At Treks In Cusco, we have designed this tour to offer you something unique and authentic. The two days hike takes you to one of the most raved scenic landscapes of Peru. It goes through some of the most scenic routes of the region and ends at one of the most compelling sights of Cusco, Rainbow Mountain. You will also get an insight of the life of local community here.

Rainbow Mountain

The Rainbow Mountain which is a part of the Ausangate Mountain Range is fairly a new attraction. Also known as Vinicunca, it is one of the popular sites. Most travellers visit this awe inspiring mountain just as they visit Machu Picchu. The colours of the mountain are result of sedimentary mineral layers.

Apart from offering some captivating views, this an off the beaten tourist track trek also shows you the life in the Andes. You will pass through many farm lands. Here you will see the antique culture and traditions of local people. You will also see herds of llamas and alpacas grazing.

Due to less pollution, the site also rewards with entrancing views of the galaxy and milky way at night. We at Treks in Cusco, have specially designed this itinerary to offer you a unique experience of Ausangate Circuit without much of physical strain.

This two days trek passes through the foothills of the Sacred Andean Peak “Apu”. The peak has been sacred since Pre-Inca times. Infact, it is a deity of Cusco Region. Every year, in the end of May over 10,000 devotees go there to express their gratitude to the peak. This festival is famously known as Qollyority

 Rainbow Mountain Ausangate trek

The trek will leave you speechless. It will fascinate you with its views that combines wild desert landscapes, glaciated peaks, hot springs, rushing rivers, turquoise lakes and challenging mountain passes. It is a site where everything seems untouched and undiscovered.

Please note that this trek has many high passes. It is highly recommended for you to spend at-least three days in Cusco acclimatising to avoid altitude sickness.

In order to offer you the most of this trek, we operate this with a small group size. You can also opt for a private tour.

The highest point of the trek is at 5100 metres above sea level.
