Ausangate Trek 6 Days - Ausangate Lake Sibinacocha

If an off road outdoor adventure excites you, then this is your ideal trek. Ausangate Trek 6 Days  to Ausangate Lake Sibinacocha is a gem of an experience. It takes you amidst the nature, closer to the tallest peak in Cusco, The Ausangate. This is a sacred peak to locals. We refer to it as “Apu”. Every year thousands of pilgrims hike here in the end of may. This is to express their gratitude to the peak in an event called” Qollyority”

Ausangate peak towers upto 6372 metres above sea level. It dominates the southern skyline of Cusco. Although most can get the view from afar, only a handful get the closer view and enjoy the beauty.

The trek around this snow capped peak is an out worldly experience. This area is home to many pristine fields, unspoiled lagoons, colorful mountains, hot springs and Andean villages. Infact, it houses some of the pristine sights that are untouched by tourism. You will also spot many Huallatas or Andean Geese, Wild Vicuñas and Camelids – Llamas and Alpacas.

Towards the end of the trek you will be crossing some Andean farms. People living here have preserved their cultures and traditions. They still continue to talk in Quechua.

Apart from the captivating sights of this highland region and views of the Vilcanota mountain range, you will also have a cultural experience.

The highlight of the Ausangate Mountain trek is the highland lagoon, Sibinacocha that nestles at 4,873 metres. It ranks as 22nd highest lake on earth.

Why Treks In Cusco?

Treks in Cusco takes pride as one of the few tour operators to offer this experience. We have dedicated local guides from the region. They are born and raised here. Our guides have an extensive knowledge and a good proficiency in English language.

Depending on the group size we will be assigning the number of guides. For any group with more than 9 trekkers we will be having an assistant guide.

Ausangate Trek 6 Days to Ausangate Lake Sibinacocha is the best alternative or rather an extended version of our two days Ausangate Rainbow Mountain Trek.

This is a high altitude experience, we highly recommend you to spend a couple of days in Cusco before the trek to avoid altitude sickness
