Huchuy Qosqo Trek to Machu Picchu from Cusco, is the shortest trek. It is ideal for those with a short time in Peru but want to do a bit of trekking before reaching Machu Picchu. It is the lowest trek in altitude at 4350 meters. Comparing to other treks from Cusco to Machu Picchu, Huchuy Qosqo trek to Machu Picchu is the shortest trek with just 17 kilometers.
The trek offers views of some great examples of Inca Stairs and other Inca ruins along the way. As there are only two days of trekking, you will only camp for one night and then sleep in our Hotel on the next night.
Huchuy Qosqo was a prominent landmark during Inca civilization. This Inca site was a military and an administrative centre. The 40 metres long, kallanka great hall is an impressive part of the site.
This trek is perfect for those who really want to be in the middle of nowhere with only nature surrounding them as they camp in an area that is scarcely seen by tourists. The archeological site of Huchuy Qosqo Ruins (small Cusco in Quechua) nestles above the Valley of Urubamba and offers very spectacular views of the snow capped peaks of Vilcanota Mountain Range.
The three day hike is also a great way for you to enjoy a shorter trek that still includes Machu Picchu and Inca trails (with Inca stairs that are better than the Inca Trail). You will also get an insight to the life of the high Andean communities. You will have one night camping in the wilderness and then the very next night will be spent in our Hotel Viajeros in, Aguas Calientes.
