Rainbow Mountain Peru Day Trip from Cusco or the Full Day Vinicunca Peru Tour is one of the fairly new and most preferred tours. Also known as Montaña de Colores, it attracts more than 800 visitors a day. To most, it is second in the bucket list after Machu Picchu. There are just a few tourist who visit Cusco and not do the iconic Rainbow Mountain Tour.
There are two sites, Palccoyo and Vinicunca. Palccoyo Rainbow Mountains is mostly visited by travellers who are not keen on hiking. However, Rainbow Mountains of Vinicunca retains its authenticity by letting travellers hike up through the scenic route and sights of Andean farms and villages. You will be witnessing the beautiful landscapes from start to end of the Peruvian Andes.
For this full day hike to Vinicunca Rainbow Mountains, we will be leaving Cusco early in the morning at 0400. We will stop in a little Andean village called Cusipata for breakfast before travelling to the trail head. You can opt to get the most of the Rainbow Mountain Trek by hiking or alternatively pay an additional fare and jump on horseback.
The colours that form the Rainbow Mountain Peru are mineral deposits. This is one of the prettiest and the most visited sites in Cusco.

Cusco Hotel Transfer
At 0400 in the morning, we will be picking you up from your hotel in Cusco. We will then be driving for around two hours to Cusipata. Here, we will stop for breakfast. After breakfast, we will continue our drive for another hour to the trailhead.
Here, we will be crossing the check point before starting our two and a half hours uphill hike to the summit of the Rainbow Mountains. The trek offers amazing views of Ausangate Mountain. Once on top of the Rainbow Mountain, you will have some free time to walk around and click photos.
If you are not willing to hike, you can ride a horse from the starting point to the top.
Alternatively, you can hike to the red valley. We will then start our hike back to the trailhead. It normally takes about 30 minutes. From here, we will be taking our exclusive transport back to Cusipata. At Cusipata, we will stop for lunch before starting our return trip to Cusco city.
We will be reaching Cusco at around 0630 in the evening.
The Rainbow Mountain also known as Vinicunca is located to the South of Cusco.
The summit of the Rainbow Mountain of Vinicunca is 5200 meters or over 17,000 feet above sea level.
The Rainbow Mountains are some 99 Kilometres (62 miles) away from Cusco city.
